ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — There is a possible trial delay for the man accused of secretly videotaping women at a tanning salon.

Retired police officer Billy Apple is charged with peeping on customers at his Hillsborough tanning salon last year. Investigators found hidden cameras and videotapes.

Apple's trial was supposed to start next month, but on Friday, his lawyer took himself off the case, citing a conflict of interest. A judge then denied Apple's request for a court-appointed attorney.

Apple faces nearly 100 counts of secret peeping.
