ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — An Orange County man who shot his nephew will spend at least seven years in prison.
Lashanta Fearrington recently pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say on Christmas Eve 2002, Fearrington was struggling over a gun with his mother's boyfriend when it went off.
A stray bullet hit his 18-month-old nephew, Measha, in the head, killing him.
