Deputies Donald Schwab and Curtis Wells said they wanted to prove a point about the school's lack of security. With the mother's permission, the deputies, dressed in black, took a female student who was walking to the school bus and escorted her out of view.
Eventually, the deputies met up with the girl's mother and went to tell the principal what they had gotten away with.
School officials said the test was flawed because the girl knew what was happening, so she never struggled like a real victim might.
Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler condemned the stunt, saying the deputies were not on duty at the time and did not have department approval.
"I don't approve of any deputy, I'll say it again, going to an elementary school doing anything without first this office knowing about it," he said.
The school board is considering filing charges against the deputies.
