Phipps' Sentencing On State Charges Delayed

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Meg Scott Phipps is already serving a 4-year federal prison term for her campaign finance scandal, but her sentencing on state charges will have to wait.

The former state Agriculture commissioner was supposed to be sentenced Wednesday in a Wake County courtroom for her perjury convictions in 2003, but her attorneys and prosecutors could not work out scheduling conflicts.

Another date has not been set yet.

The U.S. Marshals' office still will not say where Phipps is being held.
