A teenager was killed Sunday after officials say he turned his all-terrain vehicle into the path of an oncoming car near Bunnlevel.

The state Highway Patrol says the driver of the car swerved, but struck the right side of the ATV, killing Jason Paradise, 16.

Another teenager riding on the back of the ATV and two people in the car were taken to a hospital. Troopers say their injuries were not life-threatening.

An estimated 170,000 people are injured every year in ATVaccidents. Riders under the age of 24 are most often involved. Nearly 57,000 of those injured are between the ages of 15 and 24.

Teenage drivers are also the most likely to die in those accidents. Nearly 40 percent of ATV-related deaths are people under the age of 16.
