Parents Will Not Face Charges In Fatal Halifax Shooting

Posted Updated

HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. — Halifax County Sheriff Jeff Frazier said no charges will be filed against the parents of a 12-year-old Hollister boy who killed his own brother and critically wounded his cousin.

Nicholas Evans was showing off a shotgun when it went off, striking his brother and cousin in the face.

Damion Evans died in the incident.

Bernard Evans, the boys' father, said he and his sons were avid hunters and he thought they knew the dangers of playing with a loaded gun.
