RALEIGH, N.C. — A freshman at North Carolina State University was found dead in his dorm room Sunday afternoon.

University Sgt. Jon Barnwell said a roommate discovered the body of Daniel Mann Whitley, 18, from Albemarle, N.C., just after 1 p.m. in Tucker Hall.

Whitley was last seen alive at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the dorm. His roommate had been out all night Saturday and found Whitley when he returned Sunday afternoon.

"His roommate found him in bed, just like he'd been sleeping," Barnwell said.

Investigators said they do not suspect foul play. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of Whitley's death, Barnwell said.
