60K Customers Lose Power Temporarily In Western Wake County

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — About 60,000 people lost power Friday night in Cary and western Raleigh due to a transmission line problem.
Progress Energy spokeswoman Jan West said power was restored to all customers by 11:30 p.m. Friday.
It's unclear what caused the problem, but West said utility workers were looking into the problem.
West said transmission lines feed substations, which send power to homes and businesses. When a transmission line fails, a large area is usually affected.
