DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have identified a woman killed Wednesday in a hit-and-run accident as 37-year-old Felita Heyward of Hoover Road.
Officers were dispatched shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to a call about a woman lying in the street in the 2400 block of Owen Street. When they arrived, they found a female who appeared to have died a short time earlier.
An autopsy indicated Heyward died as a result of blunt force trauma caused by an impact from a vehicle. Investigators do not have a description of the vehicle, and no charges have been filed.
