BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Wildlife Resources is working to bring some eastern waterways back to life after Hurricane Isabel.
Wildlife officials are restocking rivers with nearly 12,000 large mouth bass.
Thousands of fish died in the storm, and wildlife officers believe that led to a decline in the local fishing economy.
Biologists are tagging each fish before it is released. They will study the repopulation to find the best way to replenish rivers after a hurricane.
