LAS VEGAS — Miss North Carolina did not make it to the top in this year's Miss America contest, but Brooke McLaurin, of Fayetteville, says she got to live a dream.
McLaurin says she competed the best she could in the Las Vegas pageant and is proud of her appearance on the stage.
She says the top 10 finishers had a certain look and she could tell the judges were not looking for a girl-next-door type. She says the top finishers were tall, dark and sexy but she wouldn't change her spunky and cute image to be Miss America.
