Fayetteville Fires Claim Two Lives

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A pair of fires claimed two lives in Fayetteville over the weekend.

Firefighters were called to the Tiffany Pines subdivision just after 1 p.m. The fire chief said it appears a family member accidentally left a pot on the stove and smoke quickly filled the house. An 83-year-old woman died from smoke inhalation. Her name has not been released.

Saturday night, crews were called to a fire at a house on Simpson Street.

An elderly man's body was found in the front if the house. Investigators are trying to determine whether the fire killed the man of if he died from some other reason. Three is not word on the man's identity.
