Missing Franklinton Man Found Dead In Eno River

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A Franklinton man who had been reported missing Friday was found dead Saturday in the Eno River.

Durham police have identified the victim as 23-year-old Sean Owen, of Pine Ridge Drive in Franklinton. They are trying to find Owen's vehicle -- a 1998 4-door, burgundy Ford Contour with tan interior and North Carolina license plate NTW-1188.

The car has a white chalk mark and a Vance-Granville parking sticker on the right rear bumper. Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call 911.

Though Owen had been reported missing Friday, he had not been seen since Feb. 17. He was found at 12:42 p.m. Saturday near Old Farm Park on Hedgerow Place in northern Durham.

The cause of death has not been determined at this time. But investigators said they are treating it as a suspicious death.

Owen's body was sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
