Lillington Approves Alcohol Sales

Posted Updated

LILLINGTON, N.C. — Voters in two small North Carolina towns approved the sale of alcohol Tuesday, each by about 2-to-1 margins.

Lillington voters agreed to allow the sale of beer, wine and mixed drinks.

It is the second town in Harnett County to allow liquor by the drink. It took three attempts to approve a similar measure in Dunn.

Voters in the Rutherford County town of Spindale approved the same new regulations and decided to allow an Alcoholic Beverage Control store in town.

Supporters in both towns say they hope the sale of alcohol will help spur economic growth.
