GREENVILLE, N.C. — Investigators have found a 1-year-old Pitt County girl who was taken Monday from her grandmother's home, authorities said Tuesday.
Jasmine Faith Zajac was found in Sharpsburg about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, said Patty McQuillan, spokeswoman for the state Department of Crime Control and Public Safety.
The girl's mother, Jessica Grace Thomas, was arrested, McQuillan said.
The charges were not immediately available, but authorities issued a warrant Monday charging Thomas with kidnapping and theft of vehicle, McQuillan said.
The grandmother, Jerri Thomas, has legal custody of Jasmine. She was asleep when Jasmine was taken.
An Amber alert was called in to state authorities at 11:40 p.m., McQuillan said.
