Nicholas A. Jackson and Floyd S. Liddick Jr. were charged with obtaining property by false pretenses.
According to the arrest warrant, Jackson reported his 2000 Honda Civic stolen, knowing that he did not have insurance on his vehicle at the time. He is accused of changing the time and date on the police report in order to get a rental car and money from an insurance company.
Liddick is accused of helping Jackson change the information on the police report. Authorities said the incident happened in October 2003.
Jackson appeared in court Thursday while Liddick waived his court appearance.
Jackson was employed on Sept. 9, 2002, and Liddick was employed on June 24, 2002. Both men were assigned to the department's Field Operations Division.
Both men were terminated immediately from the department. Police officials admitted that the investigation was conducted by Internal Affairs.
