Amber Alert Expires, But Search Continues For Missing Robeson County Child

Jai Mya Glover has been missing since 12:40 a.m.

Authorities spent several hours interviewing the girl's father, Daryl Glover, who has a lengthy criminal record that includes violent crimes. But investigators said that neither Daryl Glover nor the girl's mother, Wanda Lee, is a suspect.

Investigators said they know the names of two of the four men, who reportedly phoned Darryl Glover's cell-phone number after the abduction. The search has covered four counties: Robeson, Cumberland, Harnett and Johnston.

"The men intended to take both the girl and her mother, but an alarm system in the home went off, and the men ran with the child, leaving the mother behind," said Lt. Ken Sealey of the Robeson County Sheriff's Department.

Officials declined to comment on a possible motive for the abduction.

Lee, 30, has said she does not know the abductors.

Lee said the abductors had called the cell phone belonging to Daryl Glover, 24, and that their daughter spoke with Glover.

Investigators said that, based on information they have gathered about the case, they do not believe Jai Mya has been harmed.

Lee said four men kicked in the front door of her residence and took Glover out of her bed while holding Lee at gunpoint.

The men drove away in a small dark-colored or burgundy vehicle, with silver or gold pinstripes.

"I was scared," Lee said. "I didn't know what was going on. Four men, with masks covering their faces and guns drawn. I mean, I was scared. I just yelled: 'Please don't hurt my baby.'"

Glover is black, about 2 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, white pantieswith purple flowers, two gold earrings in both ears and two bracelets on each arm.

Glover has short black hair, brown eyes, a dark complexion, and a birth mark of a round circle on the left side of her buttocks.

Three of the suspects were wearing dark blue or black sweaters, and their faces were covered with bandannas. One suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts.

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office contacted the

North Carolina Center for Missing Persons

before 9 a.m. to request the alert, which first was sent regionally to Cumberland, Hoke, Bladen, Sampson, Duplin, Robeson, Scotland, Columbus, Brunswick, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties.

The alert was entered into the

National Criminal Information Center

and into the

state Division of Criminal Information

system for law enforcement.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division

has been contacted as well.
