AAA: Wake County Has 6 Of 20 Substandard Bridges In State

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new list of the state's worst bridges is out and six of the top 20 are in Wake County, according to

2. The Glen Eden Drive bridge over Interstate 440

4. The Interstate 440 bridge over Hillsborough Street

9. The U.S. 70 bridge over Peace Street

13. The State Road 1002 bridge over Pullen Road

15. The U.S. 401 bridge over Crabtree Creek

20. The U.S. 70 bridge over Wade Avenue

Cumberland County has two bridges in the top 20 -- N.C. 24 over Cross Creek and State Road 1400 over Bones Creek.

For the third year in a row, the Interstate 40 Business bridge in Forsyth County that passes over Liberty Street ranks as the state's worst substandard bridge, according to AAA Carolinas eighth annual survey.
