NCSU Chancellor Leaving To Take California Post

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State University is looking for a new chancellor.

Marye Anne Fox said Friday she plans to leave the university to take a similar job at the University of California at San Diego.

According to a statement from UCSD president Robert C. Dynes, Fox "brings the combination of skills needed to build on UCSD's reputation as one of the finest universities in the world."

The Board of Regents at the University of California at San Diego still must approve Fox's hiring.

Fox has been chancellor at N.C. State for more than five years. N.C. State senior Jonathan Ducote, the student member of theBoard of Governors, praised Fox's efforts.

"I know North Carolina has been close to her heart," saidDucote, who is also president of the UNC Association of StudentGovernments. "She has done a good job at State. I'm sure she'smaking the decision for all the right reasons."

The UNC Board of Governors praised Fox for the school's growth during her tenure.
