One Dies, 1 Injured In Cary Accident

CARY, N.C. — A motorist died and another person was injured in a wreck before dawn Saturday in Cary.

According to Cary police, a Toyota sport utility vehicle was traveling south on Kildaire Farm Road around 5:45 a.m. when it swerved across three lanes of traffic and flipped over a bridge. The SUV went into some trees, then down an embankment and landed top-down in the southbound lane of US 1.

The passenger, 26-year-old Orbelio Wilder Bartolon Roblero, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 25-year-old Santos Morales-Diaz. Mortales-Diaz was transported to UNC Hospitals, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said the men lived together.

Traffic on southbound lanes of US 1 was detoured around the accident scene in west Cary for about three hours.

The accident is under investigation.
