DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police said they have arrested two men and charged them with using pepper spray to rob people making bank deposits.
Larry McWilliams, 52, and Shawn McRae, 29, were charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree kidnapping.
Both men were being held at the Wake County Jail on separate charges.
The arrests are in connection with incidents from two separate banks in late February and early May.
In February a man got out of his car to make a deposit when another man approached him, sprayed a chemical in his eye and demanded his money.
In May, two employees of a Boston Market restaurant were making a deposit when a man sprayed them with pepper spray and robbed them of their deposit bag.
