Computer-Generated Image May Help Granville Authorities Identify Remains

Investigators said the victim was a young woman, between 16 and 18 years old. They said she may have been dead for up to six weeks before her body was found on March 4 near the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 near mile marker 193.

The image was created by forensic artists at the

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

.

"[It's] much better than the old artist rendering -- the old chalk, charcoal and paper," Detective Danny Emory said.

Emory hopes once authorities figure out who she is, they will find out how she died. Authorities said there were no bullet wounds or marks of strangulation on her body. They said the only thing suspicious was the fact her body was found barefoot in the woods.

Emory said the case was at a dead end, but with a photograph-quality image of the victim, he said the case has new life.

"I think someone out there knows her. Our hope is that somebody will recognize her and come forward and give us a call," he said.

Authorities plan to use the image in flyers, which they will send to 3,000 participating agencies across the country.
