Kinston Plant Workers Offered Out-Of-State Jobs With West Pharmaceuticals

About 90 employees of West Pharmaceutical Services in Kinston have accepted jobs at the company's plants in Nebraska and Florida, company officials said.

They will help ease the increased workload since the Kinston plant was destroyed by an explosion two and a half weeks ago. Four people died from the blast.

All of the 225 employees at the plant were offered jobs out of state.

About 60 accepted jobs in Nebraska and 30 will move to Florida.

Employees are being asked to make a six-month commitment and the company will pay all of their expenses while they are working out of state.

The extra manpower will be welcomed in Kearney, Nebraska. The 130 employees there added two days to their work week and the plant hired about 50 more people.
