KINSTON, N.C. — Federal investigators could release a preliminary cause Monday of the blast at the Kinston factory that killed four people.
That's according to Lenoir County Manager John Bauer.
Investigators entered the demolished West Pharmaceutical Services plant on Saturday. An agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says search crews took dogs in to sniff out any evidence of accelerants.
Some investigators have theorized that dust produced in the rubber-making process might have ignited somehow. But others have said it's too early to speculate.
Firefighters continue to fight hot spots that periodically erupt into flame.
