Investigators Seek Clues In Franklin County Man's Death

Posted Updated

LOUISBURG, N.C. — Franklin County authorities are investigating the death of a Louisburg city worker.

Relatives found James Medlin's body inside his home off Arnold Road, just outside Louisburg Monday.

"What information we have makes this a suspicious death and we are going to turn over as much evidence as we can to make our final rulling," Sheriff Jerry Jones said.

Investigators said Medlin suffered a laceration to his head and a puncture wound to his rib cage. No weapon has been found.

Medlin had been missing for two days. Monday morning, concerned family members forced their way into his home and found his body on his bed, wrapped in a blanket.

Next door neighbor Bonnie Fowler said Medlin was a kind man and his suspicious death has her worried that a killer is on the loose.

"[I'm] shocked that this could happen, especially to a person as good as J.B.," she said. "You don't know who is out there, who did this."

Investigators are looking for Medlin's truck -- a light, beige 2000 model Chevy S-10 pickup truck.with North Carolina license
