Pedestrian Killed In Beltline Accident

Posted Updated

RALEIGH. N.C. — Raleigh police are trying to determine what caused a deadly accident on the outer beltline Sunday afternoon.

Linda Maurer, 50, was struck and killed on Interstate 440 near Jones Franklin Road.

Capt. J.G. Annis, of the Raleigh Police Department, said Maurer was walking along the southbound roadway in west Raleigh when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle and then run over by a second.

The accident set off at least one other accident and tied up traffic on both sides of the highway.

Maurer did not have a permanent address, but police said her mother lived a short distance from the accident.
