Edwards Talks Education With High School Students

RALEIGH, N.C. — One day after he announced his presidentialrace, Senator John Edwards is on the campaign trail.

Edwards talked about his plans to improve education Fridaywith about 30 students at Broughton High School inRaleigh.

Edwards said he likes the idea of using federal money to paytuition for first-year students at public colleges. He said he would also usethe money for incentives to put bright teachers in strugglingschools in the country and the inner city.

Edwards said the ideas could be financed by rearranging budgetpriorities and by taking away a tax cut for the highestwage-earners.
