Edwards Talks Education With High School Students

e-mail print friendly

One day after he announced his presidential race, Senator John Edwards is on the campaign trail.

Edwards talked about his plans to improve education Friday with about 30 students at Broughton High School in Raleigh.

Edwards said he likes the idea of using federal money to pay tuition for first-year students at public colleges. He said he would also use the money for incentives to put bright teachers in struggling schools in the country and the inner city.

Edwards said the ideas could be financed by rearranging budget priorities and by taking away a tax cut for the highest wage-earners.
