FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Seven
football players have been suspended from the team as campus police investigate an alleged hazing incident.
Campus police say Crasten Davis, Jamaal Legette, Angel Garcia, William Brown, Shawn Watkins and William McPhaul held down a fellow student in the locker room Monday night, took off his clothes, and hit him several times. Police say there were also attempts to write on the freshman player.
Police say a seventh student, Antonio Wilkerson, performed a lewd sexual act on him. Wilkerson, an all-time school receiving leader, is charged with assault.
The court documents say the victim is physically OK, but he was humiliated.
Wilkerson was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. A magistrate released the rest of the students on their own recognizance. They are scheduled to appear in court next month.
Methodist is a 42-year-old liberal arts college in Fayetteville with almost 2,000 enrolled students.
