Raleigh Police: Bike Wobbled Before Fatal Wreck

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have released new informationabout a motorcycle patrol officer who was killed Tuesday whilepursuing a speeding vehicle.

Police said Officer Charles Radford Paul III was traveling85 miles per hour when his front wheel began to wobble on theBeltline.

Police said the wobble might have been caused by the draftcreated by a passing tractor-trailer.

Police chief Jane Perlov said the department is reviewing itsprocedures in connection with the crash. The motorcycles are beinginspected as well.

Police are still looking for a burgundy car, possibly a Toyota,that's believed to be the speeding vehicle.

Visitation for Officer Paul will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Harold Poole Funeral Home, 944 Old Knight Road, in Knightdale.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Knightdale.
