Federal Judge Denies Revels' Request To Extend Restraining Order

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A federal judge has denied a request by theattorney for Rebekah Revels to extend a temporary restraining orderthat's allowed her to compete in the Miss America Pageant.

Revels is one of two Miss North Carolinas in Atlantic City, NewJersey, participating in preliminary activities. The other is MistyClymer, who was the first runner-up and who succeeded Revels whenshe resigned.

Revels claims she was forced to resign in July when a formerboyfriend told pageant officials he had two topless photos of her.Clymer assumed the title.

Despite this afternoon's ruling, U.S. District Judge James Foxsays he'll continue hearing evidence tomorrow, followed by closingarguments, before making a final decision.

Fox says he wants to issue a final decision before leaving forvacation, adding that the legal issues involved are complex.
