Wake Forest Police Officer Injured While Stopping Domestic Dispute

A Wake Forest police officer has been taken to a hospital after he was assaulted while on duty Tuesday night.

Officer John Martin was released from WakeMed Wednesday morning after being injured in the line of duty. Martin, an 18-year veteran of the police department, was responding to a domestic dispute on Taylor Street between Cynica Johnson and his brother when he was attacked around 11 p.m.

Authorities are not sure what kind of weapon was used, but they say Martin has been taken to WakeMed with a broken nose, a mild concussion, and some cuts.

Authorities say Johnson turned himself in on Wednesday afternoon.
