RALEIGH — An overturned truck filled with live turkeys caused a huge traffic backup Monday morning on Interstate 40.
Raleigh police say the truck driver, Guy Dove, swerved to avoid a car and lost control, flipping his vehicle.
The accident happened while Dove was on the ramp leaving I-40 west headed to the Inner Beltline.
Dove works with Top Notch Trucking, based in Virginia.
Authorities say no charges will be filed.
No people were hurt, but dozens of turkeys were killed. At one point, the traffic tie-ups stretched back into Johnston County.
Crews needed most of the morning to clear the way.
