RALEIGH, N.C. — Residents in several North Carolina counties are being alerted about upcoming military exercises in their area.

Students attending the Special Forces Qualification Course will conduct a two-week training exercise.

The exercise will encompass 12 counties: Guilford, Davidson, Union, Stanley, Anson, Scotland, Hoke, Moore, Montgomery, Chatham, Randolph and Robeson.

The operation starts Saturday, Feb. 14 and lasts until Feb. 28.

Residents in those counties may hear blank gunfire and see occasional flares, none of which pose any danger.
