RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County nonprofit group that delivers hot lunches to the elderly, homebound and handicapped every day is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
When the service began in 1974, Wake County Meals on Wheels had 10 volunteers. Today, more than 2,000 volunteers serve close to 1,100 clients.
