K&W Co-Founder Dies at 74

HIGH POINT — A man who made a living feeding hungry people and made his name by giving away his time and money has died.
Grady Thomas Allred Junior of High Point died Wednesday at his home after a battle with cancer. He was 74-years-old.
Allred was founder and president of both K-and-W Cafeterias and J-and-S Cafeterias.
An active member of the High Point Rotary Club and the Y.M.C.A., he was a past president of the North Carolina Restaurant Association and a former director of the National Restaurant Association. Former Governor Jim Hunt appointed him to the North Carolina Commission of Health and Human Services.
Family visitation will be held from 7 to 9p.m.today at Cumby Family Funeral Service. A memorial service will start at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emerywood Baptist Church.
