Ticket Prices to Increase at N.C. Zoological Park

ASHEBORO — Admission to the North Carolina Zoological Park will increase July 1, the first increase in six years.
Adult tickets will cost $10, up from $8, and tickets for children ages 2-12 and senior citizens will cost $6, up from $5. Depending upon attendance, the new prices should increase the zoo's revenues by an estimated $800,000, officials said.
About half of that would be used for marketing, pending approval of the new state budget.
The N.C. Zoological Park Council approved the increases in March. Ticket prices were last raised in May 1995, coinciding with the opening of the final exhibits in the North America exhibit region.
The zoo this year opened a renovated African entrance, the Wachovia Akiba Market and a renovated chimpanzee exhibit.
