Adult tickets will cost $10, up from $8, and tickets forchildren ages 2-12 and senior citizens will cost $6, up from $5.Depending upon attendance, the new prices should increase the zoo'srevenues by an estimated $800,000, officials said.
About half of that would be used for marketing, pending approvalof the new state budget.
The N.C. Zoological Park Council approved the increases inMarch. Ticket prices were last raised in May 1995, coinciding withthe opening of the final exhibits in the North America exhibitregion.
The zoo this year opened a renovated African entrance, theWachovia Akiba Market and a renovated chimpanzee exhibit.
