CHAPEL Hill, N.C. — Broughton's girls basketball team defeated Northern Durham 69-60 to claim the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4-A state title Friday evening at the Smith Center.
Jasmine Newkirk led the Caps with 18 points.
The win gives Broughton its third state girls' basketball title. The Caps also won titles in 1983 and 1985.
Utahya Drye had 19 points and 8 rebounds for Northern.
