DURHAM, N.C. — Midre Cummings' grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Durham Bulls to a 14-10 victory over Columbus.
Cummings batted 3-for-4. He capped a six-run ninth inning for the Bulls.
The teams combined for 11 runs in the first three innings, and 13 runs in the last inning and a half.
Durham led 8-7 going into the top of the inning. But Bulls closer Al Reyes gave up three runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Reyes gave up a double and two singles for the first run, then gave up a two-run single to Dave Parrish.
