DURHAM — A man charged with binding and gagging a 3-year-old with duct tape and putting her in a box in an attic has turned himself in to deputies.
Samuel Uriah King of Durham was in the Durham County jail with bond set at one million dollars. The 25-year-old was also charged in the beating and pepper-spraying of a 17-year-old girl, the 3-year-old's sister. Authorities say King is a former boyfriend of the teen-ager.
King's first appearance is scheduled for tomorrow. He is charged with first-degree kidnapping, breaking and entering, assault on a child younger than 12 and assault on a female. Investigators say other charges, including attempted murder, are expected to be presented to a grand jury.
