New Tax Policy Commission may change 70 year old tax structure

Governor Mike Easley's New Tax Commission is looking at a tax structure that hasn't changed in 70 years. When Agriculture and Machinery and textile industries were healthy tax revenue producers. But Dan Gerlack, the Governor's Senior Policy Advisor says in no-way will the new tax commission focus on raising our taxes.

The Commission will make it's recommendations to state lawmakers who meet in May to wrestle with a one billion dollar budget deficit.
