Cary Kid Killed
CARY, N.C. — A 6-year-old boy was hit by a mini-van and killed late Wednesday afternoon near a town home complex in Cary, police said.

At about 5:18 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the scene at Hamilton Hedge Place near the intersection of Morrisville-Carpenter Road and Davis Drive, Cary town spokeswoman Susan Moran said.

The boy was riding his push scooter down his driveway and onto the road, police said. The driver of the mini-van did not see him and hit him. He died at the scene.

The child's mother was at home at the time of the accident. Both she and the driver of the mini-van were taken to a local hospital to be treated for emotional trauma.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim or the driver and have not said whether charges would be filed in the case.
