Rocky Mount Committee Rescinds Motion To Rehire Artist Who Created MLK Statue

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Martin Luther King Jr. statue committee in Rocky Mount has voted to allow all artists who want to create a second statue to be considered.

Committee members voted 5-2 to rescind a motion approved in November to recommend rehiring the artist who created the original statue.

Many people argue the statue looks nothing like the civil rights leader.

The next meeting will be held on Feb. 19.
