Ex-Sheriff Candidate Charged With Exposing Himself

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A former candidate for Cumberland County sheriff has been charged with indecent exposure, authorities said.

David Stewart, 47, was fired from his position as a firefighter with the Stoney Point Fire Department after his arrest, authorities said.

A woman told authorities that she was performing court-ordered community service at the fire department when a man dropped his pants to show off a tattoo near his crotch. The woman she could see the man's genitals.

Stewart also was arrested in July during a prostitution sting.
