RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department is investigating the circumstances involving a body found Tuesday morning inside an apartment on Hylton Drive.
A resident of an apartment in the complex called police after detecting an odor from a room that had been sublet.
Inside, officers found the victim in a closet, in a large duffel bag sealed with duct tape. Police said it appeared the victim had been dead for several weeks.
The Medical Examiner's preliminary findings are that the death was a homicide and that the victim died of asphyxiation.
The victim has been tentatively identified as a 23-year-old Hispanic male. No next-of-kin notification has been made.
