DURHAM, N.C. — An accident near the Orange County/Durham County line caused traffic hassles Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say a car and a truck were involved in an accident in a northbound lane of Interstate 85 near exit 170.
According to police, the truck drifted into the right lane and struck the rear-quarter panel of the car, which caused the car to spin into the guard rail.
Officials had to close down a northbound lane to clear the scene, causing traffic to be backed up for more than a half-mile. Both lanes are now open to traffic.
Authorities say there are no serious injuries in the accident and no one was transported to medical facilities.
The truck driver was charged with safe movement violations.
