Former Fayetteville Cop Sentenced To Federal Prison

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A former Fayetteville police officer is headed to federal prison.

A judge sentenced Christopher Young to 10 years in prison Friday for violating the civil rights of five women.

The federal charges were filed after a Cumberland County jury cleared him of raping female inmates while on duty.

Federal prosecutors successfully argued that Young deprived three women of their rights through sexual assault and illegally detained two others.
