DURHAM, N.C. — The city of Durham is going to court to get rid of what some residents call a major eyesore.
The Heart of Durham motel has been deserted since the mid-1990s. The city, which wants to build a multimodal transportation station on the property, has filed court papers to take the land by eminent domain.
City officials have offered the owners $750,000 for the property.
The motel owners have three months to respond.
