Six Southern Academy students were taken to the hospital following the accident, which occurred about 8 a.m. as students were being dropped off to start school.
The students, ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old, complained of headaches or neck pain. They were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment and released later Friday.
According to Mount Olive Police Sgt. Jimmy Stephens, the bus was parked, waiting for a bus ahead that was unloading passengers.
Millner pulled up in his 1990 Honda Accord to drop off a student, Ashley Levier, 17, of Calypso. According to Stephens, Millner said his vehicle jumped forward and hit the bus.
According to the police report, Millner's vehicle rode up under the rear corner of the bus on the driver's side, jolting several passengers on the bus. There reportedly were 13 students on the bus at the time.
The bus driver, Horice Kornegay, 57, of Mount Olive, was not injured. Nor were Millner or Ms. Levier.
Damage to the car was estimated at $2,500, with about $500 worth of damage to the bus.
Stephens said his investigation is incomplete but said Millner's brakes appeared to be working. No ticket was issued at the scene, but charges are pending.
