Raleigh Councilor Wants To Debate Mayor

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A new Raleigh City Council member wants to talk about the proposed convention center plan with the mayor.

Mike Regan has proposed a live debate with Mayor Charles Meeker on whether Raleigh should spend $180 million to build a convention center and $543 million to market and operate it for the next 30 years. Regan has said he is against the plan.

Meeker said he has not accepted the invitation for a debate. He said the issue needs to go before the City Council.
